Hey guys, just a quick update, the server is now 1.8 compatible. All 1.8 features should be working perfectly, but there were some issues updating, so tell a staff member if you have issues.
Have fun!

I’m glad to say that Livecraft is back online. The move to Wisconsin was a fairly smooth one, and nothing was damaged during the move. Hope to see you back on Livecraft soon!

Livecraft is currently operating using Minecraft 1.7.5 server software that has been modified to support Minecraft versions 1.7.2 to 1.7.9. Although it works well, this is far from optimal as the new Minecraft versions (1.7.9 and 1.7.10) support name changing. Most plugins must be updated, meaning it is a very large update on the server side of things, resulting in many things that can prevent the update. A checklist will be provided here for what is currently working under 1.7.10 and what still needs to be updated.
At the current moment, name changing is NOT SUPPORTED. You WILL lose player data if you change your username, and the server WILL TREAT YOU AS A NEW PLAYER. In the event Mojang allows name changing in the near future, you accept this risk and the potential loss of data that goes along with it.

Hi guys, rolling the map back didn’t work. The server map is slowly regenerating. I honestly don’t know what’s going on, but the map is just going haywire. The flatlands, redstone flatlands, and skylands worlds were saved; however, the rest is not able to be saved. I’m sorry guys 🙁
The reset will be taking place today at 3:00 PM EDT/8:00 PM UTC. If I didn’t have to reset, I wouldn’t. I’m sorry guys.

As you may or may not know, Minecraft 1.6 is right around the corner. Minecraft 1.6 is due on July 1st (Porky_Sporky’s birthday :D), but the server WILL NOT be ready for Minecraft 1.6 for a while. We are not resetting the map, but Spigot (our server software) will take a bit to update to Minecraft 1.6 and then our plugins must then be updated to be compatible with Spigot for Minecraft 1.6 as well. This process can take up to a week, so be aware of any news on the website regarding Minecraft 1.6.
Goals for Minecraft 1.6:
Bugs to be fixed:
As usual, this will be hopefully done before we launch for 1.6. The server will not be down, but you CAN NOT UPDATE TO 1.6. When the server description is prefixed by [1.6], you can then update.

P.S.: Keep a backup of your 1.5 JAR file (located in %APPDATA%/.minecraft/bin for Windows users) prior to updating. You can swap out the new Minecraft JAR with your backup easily by renaming them (i.e. minecraft.jar and 1_5_backup.jar, minecraft.jar and 1_6_backup.jar).
Cheerio.

Hey guys, I’m going to be changing some stuff on the server, but nothing major. Here’s what’s going to be new:
You may have noticed that there are no shops anymore. I personally hated shops because it ruined the fun in Minecraft. You didn’t have to work for anything, you just had to sell dirt and then buy resources. I figured that rather than getting rid of user commerce all together, I would substitute it with an auctions system. With this system in place, you will be able to auction off items at a set value. As more people auction, the value increases. The final bidder will earn the item and hand over the item requested as trade.
Another change is ranged chat. Some of you may be wondering what ranged chat is. What ranged chat achieves is a “radius” of who can here you. For example, if nobody’s near by, your chat will not be heard. In order to speak globally, just add a ! to the beginning of your message:
Examples:
As you should have noticed, Livecraft died. We had a hard drive failure; however, the hard drive survived. The data, however, did not. Everything was wiped, including the website, server, and everything. Me, Evil, and Medius have spent the last week getting Livecraft online and working nicely. It should be a lot faster than it used to be.
What’s new:
Command differences:
Other changes:
I know many of you probably lost items from the new map, but there was no possible way to recover the lost data. Even if I could have recovered the map, it would have been severely corrupted and just not worth fixing.

Due to the HUGE amount of changes with Minecraft 1.3.1, we’ve decided to reset the map so that everyone can have fun with the jungle pyramids and better NPC villages. The Flatlands were not reset, and neither were the Skylands. It’s going to be a while until the Bukkit team (the people who develop our server software) make a version compatible with Minecraft 1.3.1, so we figured we’d use this time to make the new spawn. Please don’t tell us to upgrade, we will as soon as possible but until then you can participate in chats to the server through our IRC channel (The chat page, up in the top). There might be a few plugin tweaks in the following week in order to accommodate Minecraft 1.3.1 (such as a planned re-colouring of the user prefixes) and possibly a spleef plugin. Other than that, the server experience should be the same, aside from the map.
Hope this clarifies things,
Jonathan Alfonso (alfonsojon)
