32 Players!

Today, we hit a new record to max players: 32. Livecraft was full today as of 2:17 PM EST, or 7:17 PM GMT. Here is a screenshot!

32 Players

This was a great opportunity to stress test the server and determine if we can or can’t handle 32 players. Turns out, we can easily handle 32. Once again, I wish you all a happy Thanksgiving.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I wish all of our American players a happy thanksgiving. Enjoy today, spend time with family, and have a good time. Try not to kill any pets by dropping a turkey!

To our non-American players: Here’s an excuse to buy a big turkey!

News regarding Minecraft 1.7

I have decided that there will not be a map reset for Minecraft 1.7. We are preparing something rather significant, and I would like to have it ready upon the arrival of the next version of Minecraft, be it version 1.8 or 2.0. This is a project which has been worked on for the last few weeks in the flatlands. For the time being, the new blocks from Minecraft 1.7 will not work. They will either be substituted with stone or a similar block. Please refrain from using these blocks.

Information Regarding “Bad Login”

Note from Mojang:

Non-1.7 clients are currently getting Failed: Bad Login error when trying to log into multiplayer servers. 1.7 clients are not affected. There is no ETA for a fix. Please wait patiently as Mojang fixes the issue.

As a result of this, I will update the server temporarily to Minecraft 1.7. This version WILL NOT HAVE ANY Minecraft 1.7 features. It is simply a Minecraft 1.6 server which accepts Minecraft 1.7 clients.

Server downtime

The server will be offline for some time; this downtime is to fix certain problems affecting the server. It will be online and operational tomorrow, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.

In the meantime, feel free to talk on the IRC channel we have. Just click “IRC CHAT” in the toolbar on top to begin using it. Enter in your Minecraft user name and click Connect. Enjoy.

All fixed and good to go.

IRC Chat now online

In other news, we now have IRC chat. Feel free to talk about stuff so long as it follows the rules. This is also one of the best ways to get into contact with a staff member.

[IMPORTANT] Flatlands Rollback

Due to an issue caused by a certain user regarding excessive amounts of TNT in the flatlands, I am left with the only option of reverting the flatlands progress to a backup from November 13th, 2013. I can restore any important builds recently with Prism, but these must be requested personally and a location provided. I will try to make this as quick as possible. The backup has been successfully restored.

mcMMO Issues

mcMMO, the plugin which enables MMO-like features in Minecraft, is currently non-operational. It may not be working until I can repair the database, or until the server migrates to Minecraft 1.7. Until then, mcMMO will not work as intended. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Looks like I fixed it faster than I wanted to. Enjoy.

Update to Ubuntu Server 13.10

As some of you may or may not know, Ubuntu 13.10 was released earlier today [October 17th, 2013]. I personally strive to keep the server up to date to ensure maximum performance and security, so I will be upgrading it at 10:00 PM EST.

You should not notice any changes.

All changes are being made on the backend of the server, so you will not notice any changes in your day-to-day game play. The server may be down for a period of up to 45 minutes.

Regards,

Jonathan Alfonso (alfonsojon)

Edit: All upgrades done, everything running smoothly.

[IMPORTANT] Server Hardware Swap

Unfortunately, the server’s main CPU fan is not working, resulting in the server overheating (and a LOT of noise). As a result of this, I have given up my personal computer to serve as the main server for now. The CPU is faster, but there is less RAM. I advise any Architects or staff who are using WorldEdit to NOT perform large operations at this time, as the server only has half of the RAM it used to. Things will be back to normal once I am capable of replacing the fan, but until then, this will have to make do.

Regards,

Jonathan Alfonso
